GitHub course for non-coders

Save a working checkpoint, isolate a change on a branch and review what a pull request changes before merging.

Who this is for

Non-coders using an AI agent who want to understand commits, branches and pull requests.

Before you start

No Git experience required. A GitHub account is needed for the optional repository exercise; the VibeGym drills do not connect to it.

How long it takes

The in-app lesson estimates total about 18 minutes. Repeat exercises at your own pace and allow separate time for the optional project. Finishing a drill is different from being ready to operate a production app.

The actual curriculum

These titles and summaries come from the same lesson catalog used in the app.

GitHub without fear

  1. 1.

    Your project's home base · ~3 min

Give your project a home that survives a dead laptop.

Branches: experiments without fear · ~3 min

Try scary changes while the working version stays untouched.

  4. 4.

Pull requests: the review gate · ~3 min

Read what's entering main before it becomes the real app.

  5. 5.

When changes collide · ~3 min

Resolve a merge conflict in minutes instead of panicking.

  6. 6.

A repo strangers can read · ~3 min

README, .gitignore and issues — the habits of a healthy repo.

Put it into a small project

Create a practice repository, save an initial page, change its heading on a branch and review the diff in a pull request.

This is a suggested practice assignment, not a claim that VibeGym automatically creates or hosts the app for you. Keep a working checkpoint and show the result to someone else before increasing the scope.

Start with an explanation
